Those of us who specialize in planning cruise vacations know the drill: when January comes around, it’s “All Hands on Deck”!

This is when most of our clients start planning their cruise vacations. In the cruise industry, we call it “Wave Season”. Historically, Wave Season is a sales period in the first quarter of each year, although offers may show up as early as December. The idea is that cruise lines – contemporary/resort style, luxury cruise lines, river cruises – offer their very best offers for the upcoming year.

Many of our partner lines offer Q Cruise + Travel clients incentives to encourage reservations for the remainder of the year. And this year, the Wave Season offers are not about discounts. Instead, most of the specials we’re seeing are extras that will make your onboard experience even better. Here are some examples of cruise offers we’re seeing at the moment:

• Celebrity Cruises offers you two (instead of one) “Perks” when you book an Oceanview room or above. Choose from a Beverage Package, prepaid gratuities, $300 to spend onboard or unlimited Internet.
• Norwegian Cruise Line too offers a pick of free unlimited beverages, specialty dining, shore excursions or free Wi-Fi. Book a Haven Suite and get all four.
• Book a Danube river cruise on luxury line Crystal’s new river cruise ship and enjoy 15% to 20% savings when you book an ocean cruise on its two ocean ships or the Crystal Esprit luxury yacht that sails in the Seychelles and the Adriatic.
